Provincial Accounts of Pakistan: Methodology and Estimates (1973-2000)
Provincial Accounts of Pakistan: Methodology and Estimates presents the decomposition of Pakistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) into its provincial components for the period 1972-73 to 1999-00. The paper posits the decomposition methodology in the framework of the international literature and practice, which has been comprehensively reviewed. The estimation is based on the ‘income originating’ as opposed to the income accruing’ basis and is limited to decomposing the national income accounts estimates as published officially. The sector-by-sector reconstruction of gross provincial product is based on published and unpublished disaggregated data collected at source and the estimates are presented in constant values of 1980-81.
